Russian-Chinese Trade In in Kyakhta and Russian-Chinese Pidgin (early eighteenth – late nineteenth century)

In the first half of the eighteenth century, on the Russian-Chinese border near the Russian village of Kyakhta and Chinese trade village of Maimaicheng a special Kyakhta Russian-Chinese pidgin was brought to existence by Chinese merchants who came here to carry on trade with Russians. This pidgin had served as an intermediary language for quite a while and was used for the needs of bilateral trade and basic communication between the representatives of the two great states and cultures.
