The author of the article hypothesizes the identity of two little-known historical characters of the same name: Demetrius, admiral of Philip II of Macedon, who was defeated by the citizens of Byzantion in 340/339 BC (Dion. Byz. 65), and the elder brother of Antigonus the One-Eyed who died approximately that time (Plut. Dem. 2).

Keywords: Philip II, Dionysius of Byzantion, Byzantion, Demetrius, Antigonus the One-Eyed, Plutarch
