The article investigates one of the kinds of fine ware pottery (type 1) discovered in Memphis during archaeological excavations of the Centre for Egyptological Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The paper juxtaposes the data from Memphis and analogies from different sites on the territory of Egypt. The vessels of the type 1 have a bulge on their neck, shoulder, cheek and forearm. This morphological feature lets us to subdivide the vessels of the type 1 into seven subtypes and 24 variants. The author also examines the dating and functions of these vessels. According to C. Defernez and C. Grataloup, their shape could be a result of the Persian influence on Ancient Egyptian pottery.
