<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>This article examines the specific characteristics of composition and storyline in contemporary Turkish urban fantasy, as exemplified by the novels of Funda Özlem Şeran, Gülşah Elikbank and Dogu Yücel. The writer argues that a necessary component of these and similar novels is the existence of two worlds – the human world and a non-human, supernatural world in which various tropes of folk tales, urban legends and popular literary genres (Gothic, conspiracy, romantic, and detective fiction) play out. The writer notes that authors of Turkish urban fantasy give priority to the human world, as demonstrated by the psychological characterization of human characters and anthropomorphism of non-human characters. Revealing the eclectic nature of the Turkish urban fantasy novel, the writer posits the literature as polyvalent and a meta-genre. This would suggest that this fantasy sub-genre is only just emerging in Turkish literature, however evidence of its earlier emergence is clear: it demonstrates the ability to penetrate many established genres and transgress the confines of literature to other art forms, including film, animated cartoon and comic strip. Thanks to its eclectic character, Turkish urban fantasy lends itself to different methodological keys of analysis, which, in turn, allows for the exploration of various facets of the subject in question. For example, due to the study of the plot and the composition of Turkish urban fantasy, it is possible to reveal genuine national peculiarities of the subgenre. One of its specific features is the shift of emphasis from the image of Alien / Non-Human, which is considered the main one in the Western European fantasy, to the image of Own / Human and that leads to a change in the hierarchy of typical characters and to an increase in the anthropocentricity of such fantasy novels.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>турецкая городская фэнтези</kwd><kwd>массовая литература</kwd><kwd>метажанр</kwd><kwd>Фунда Озлем Шеран</kwd><kwd>Гюльшан Эликбанк</kwd><kwd>Догу Юджель.</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Turkish urban fantasy</kwd><kwd>popular literature</kwd><kwd>meta-genre</kwd><kwd>Funda Özlem Şeran</kwd><kwd>Gülşah Elikbank</kwd><kwd>Dogu Yücel.</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front></article>
