<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The study of the textual and pictorial program of the pyramid of Pepi I revealed an important pattern: the king’s name is changing in the different chambers of his tomb. For the first time, unlike the case of his predecessors’ burials, the king is called in the texts by two names – by his personal name Pepi and by his throne name Merira. This article attempts to trace the distribution of two royal names in the space of Pepi’s pyramid and explain the way this was reflected in the texts of this tomb.
The personal name of the king, like in the pyramids of Unis and Teti, his predecessors, prevails in the texts of his tomb. Though the throne name is found in every chamber of the pyramid, it is not present on every wall. For example, in the burial chamber and antechamber, the name of Merira is situated only in the eastern wall texts. In the corridor, on the western wall, its presence is sparse, and on the eastern wall, in the middle part of the corridor, it dominates significantly (twice). In the vestibule, the royal throne name is already on every wall containing texts (western, southern, and eastern). In the ascending/descending passage leading to the exit, to the north, the name of Merira becomes dominant, there are no more appeals to the king as Osiris.
It is known, that the textual program of the Pepi’s pyramid has undergone changes even during the construction of the tomb. However, the original intention to use two royal names is confirmed by the analysis of fragments of inscriptions that have been edited. This innovation continues in the texts of the tomb of Pepi I’s successor, his son, Pepi II, whose throne name becomes dominant in the text of his pyramid, displacing the king’s personal name. Perhaps this feature, fixed in the texts of the royal pyramids, indicates the emphasis on the meaning of sacred royalty in the funeral representations of the ancient Egyptians.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Древний Египет</kwd><kwd>Тексты пирамид</kwd><kwd>Пепи I</kwd><kwd>Мерира</kwd><kwd>Осирис</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Ancient Egypt</kwd><kwd>Pyramid Texts</kwd><kwd>Pepi I</kwd><kwd>Merira</kwd><kwd>Osiris</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front></article>
