Аннотация
Вряд ли в наши дни надо кому-либо доказывать важность знания терминологии в той или иной отрасли науки, включая гуманитарную; для ученых же, изучающих чужие языки и чужие культуры, особое значение приобретает знание иноязычной терминологии и полное понимание содержания каждого иноязычного термина, которое может не совпадать с содержанием русского, кажущегося на первый взгляд аналогичным. Эти кажущиеся аналогии, которые часто подтверждаются двуязычными неспециальными словарями, - ловушка для переводчика, имеющего дело с терминологией. Для адекватного понимания и передачи иноязычных терминов переводчик должен обладать и фоновыми экстралингвистическими знаниями -этнографическими, историко-культурными, историко-литературными и т.п. В противном случае возможно появление в русской научной литературе неточных терминов или, что еще хуже, неадекватное использование терминов, уже имеющихся в русском языке. И то, и другое создает искаженное представление об описываемых явлениях чужой культуры.
Abstract
It is hardly necessary to prove now to anybody the importance of the knowledge of terminology in this or that branch of science, including the humanities; but for scientists who study foreign languages and foreign cultures it is especially important to know the terms in a foreign language and to thoroughly understand the content of each term in a foreign language, which may differ from the content of the Russian term, which may at first sight seem similar. These seeming similarities, which are often confirmed in bilingual non-special dictionaries, are a trap for a translator dealing with terminology. In order to adequately understand and to convey foreign terms the translator must also have a background of extra-linguistic knowledge: ethnographic, historical-cultural, historical and literary and so on. Otherwise the result may be the appearance of inaccurate terms in the Russian scientific literature, or, what is even worse, the inadequate use of terms, which is already the case in the Russian language. Both these factors create a distorted idea about the phenomena of the foreign culture, which is described.
