<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>This work is a continuation of the study of the last Sasanids’ rule initiated in the article ‘The Last Sasanids: Dethronement of Khusrō II Abarwēz (591–628)’. The subsequent period of the years 628 through 635 is the object of the research. The aim of this study is to re-construct the course of events, combining pieces of evidence coming from various sources, and to show the internal logic of the process. For the most part of the period in question the political history was determined by the struggle between the Sasanids and the powerful Parthian family of Mihrān, which sharpened after the death of King Kawād II Shīrōy (end of October 628). Generally, the Mihrāns dethroned by force the Sasanids who attempted to rule independently and replaced them with puppet kings, sometimes connected to the Mihrān family. The Sasanids, who lacked military strength, were obliged to look for, and rely upon, allies from different parts of the empire. With the successful campaign of Mihrān general Rustam against the Sasanid princess Āzarmīdukht in the spring of 632, the Mihrāns finally got the upper hand over the Sasanids. Yet the rise of a Parthian family to power was unacceptable to the Persian aristocracy and the latter proclaimed, in 632, a new king, Yazdagird III, and later campaigned under his flag against the Mihrāns. At the end, a compromise was reached, with Yazdagird being recognized as the only king and the Mihrāns and the Persian aristocrats sharing the influence at the court and the commandment of troops.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Сасаниды</kwd><kwd>Михраны</kwd><kwd>Кавад II Широй</kwd><kwd>Буран</kwd><kwd>Азармидухт</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Sasanids</kwd><kwd>Mihrans</kwd><kwd>Kawad II Shiroy</kwd><kwd>Buran</kwd><kwd>Azarmidukht</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front></article>
