Oral Tradition in Written Text (as Evidenced by Galia Karmysheva’s Memoires)

The article is based on the memoires of Galia. S. kysy Karmysheva about the life of her Tatar family in 1910–-1930-ies in Turkestan. The author exposes both formal and profound peculiarities of the text: absence of storyline and dates, simplification, episodes composed by association etc. These singular features of the reminiscences are interpreted as relics of the oral culture presented in the traditional consciousness of the memoirist.
