The Northern Boundaries of the Early Medieval Azerbaijan According to Armenian and Arab-Moslem Sources

Arsen Shahinyan

Vostok/Oriens '2013, №3

According to information of the ancient Armenian and Arab-Moslem geographical and historical literature of the 5th–13th centuries the author examins in detail the administrative and political map of the South-Eastern Caucasus and North-Western Iran under the Sassanian Iran (227–651) and the Arab Caliphates (632–1258). He argues that the northern territories and boundaries of early medieval Azerbaijan (3th–9th centuries) were limited by the valleys of the rivers Lower Aras and Lower Kura.
