The Idea of Development: A Theory Claim

Continuing the discussion on the civilizations in the 21st century, launched by Alexander Akimov and Alexander Yakovlev, the author suggests that civilization should rather be defined as a mental phenomenon, as a certain stage in historical development of human psyche. Developments of the modern world, society and economy demand a general theory of social development and, within it, theories of reforms and modernizations.
