“Indian Dreamer” – about Gerasim Lebedev’s Travels to India

The present article is devoted to Gerasim Lebedev – the famous Russian traveller who visited India in the end of the eighteenth century. He was very interested in the culture, history, philosophy and ancient and modern languages of Indian. He organized his own theatre for the Indians, wrote a lot of books about Indian culture, and wanted to introduce Europeans to the Indian cultures and languages.
