A Book on Future of Civilizations in the 21st Century

Surprising though it is, the importance of civilization approach can be justified due to globalization. One of responses to the challenge of globalization is the trend of societies and individuals to affirm their own identity – national, ethnical, confessional one – that is related to the factor “culture”, “civilization”. The analysis of demographic trends and prospects of migration pressure in Alexander Akimov’s and Alexander Yakovlev’s book (2012) seems very important. Diagrams showing misbalances between civilizations in population and available energy, water, arable land resources demonstrate possible tension and conflicts in case of the most undesirable scenario – “struggle for resources”.
