To the Question of the Genesis and Chronology of Large Shoulder Phalerae of the Hellenistic Period

The article covers the problem of the genesis of large shoulder Hellenistic halerae. According the author`s opinion, the appearance of this fashion was not a result of gradual modification of the nomadic harness but it occurred in a short period of time in the second half or in the end of the third century B.C. It`s not clear either this fashion developed in the steppes, or it was a result of synthesis of the nomadic harness and Hellenistic horse decorations.
