Smart technologies, Solow’s paradox, and contradictions of the world socio-economic developments in the early twenty first century

The article analyzes scales, dynamics, economic and social consequences of rapid dissemination of information and communication technologies and robots in developed and developing countries. Their contribution to economic growth has been assessed. The author investigates causes of paradoxical slowdown in world dynamics of total factor productivity growth in the context of relatively fast and in some spheres accelerating scientific and technological progress, propelled by wide application of smart technologies. The paper also examines the impact of fast proliferation of labour-saving technologies on the level and structure of employment and inequality of income and wealth in the countries of West and East.
