New Tendencies in the African Course of Japanese Foreign Policy

The article contains a brief history of Japan-Africa relations, focusing on last twenty years and characterizes main tendencies in contemporary Japan’s foreign policy towards African countries as well as Japan’s initiatives in sphere of economic cooperation with African countries. The article deals with the activities of the TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development), which was launched in 1993 to promote high-level policy dialogue and coordinate Japan’s investment and assistance to African countries.
