A Note on the Origins of the Toponym Partava

This article examines the origins of the toponym Partava. Analyzing the Achaemenid inscriptions and the accounts of Herodotus, the author concludes that the name of this region stems from the language of the Massagetae, i.e. the Saka Tigraxauda.
