Some Aspects of the Saudi-US Cooperation in the Reign of King Faisal (mid-1960s – early 1970s

The relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States in the spheres of economy, military and technical cooperation and politics during the reign of King Faisal were evolving in the context of sharp competition of the USA for prospective oil concessions and arms supply contracts with Saudi Arabia with the Saudis’ traditional ally – Great Britain, and also with France, Japan and Germany. The evolution of the relationship was positive and by 1975 the USA took the leading position in Saudi Arabia, though the process of diversification of economic, political and military contacts still persisted.
