Japanese strategy of innovative development: towards the fourth industrial revolution

The article discusses the main ideas and concepts of the fourth industrial revolution, and analyses different approaches to the understanding of this modern phenomenon. The author shows the role and place of the fourth industrial revolution in the strategy of long-term economic growth of Japan. She also analyses the steps of the Japanese government and companies to promote Industry 4.0 and prospective application of technological innovations in various sectors of the economy. The potential effects of the fourth industrial revolution on the economy, business models, and labour market are marked.
